Dog people. Do you have any fundraising advice or ideas?

I am the captain of my team raising money for a Walk-a-thon for homeless animals on September 12th.

With the economy not being the best, we are WAY UNDER where we were last year money wise.

I'm not attractive enough to prostitute myself for $, but any other thoughts for raising a few dollars?

Maybe offer to shave my head if my co-workers can raise $200?

Just freethinking here peeps.

ThanksDog people. Do you have any fundraising advice or ideas?
I was doing some fundraising last year, and we did things like Carwashes, and a garage sale...I got a whole bunch of friends to donate stuff they just wanted to get rid of and then all the money from the garage sale went to my cause. We also did a bake sale...that was okay, but kind of alot of work. Also, a letter, with very wonderful pictures that you could pass around to local businesses. Alot of businesses will donate to things like this for the tax write off.Dog people. Do you have any fundraising advice or ideas?
Just make the cause known...get the vets, animal shelters and humane society to endorse the cause.

there's plenty of people will sponsor the cause just for what the cause is, because they love animals. You certainly don't need gimics or 'prostitution'; to motivate dog-lovers to support help for homeless dogs.
That's cool that you can do things with your co-workers like that...

if you're willing to shave your head that would be fun! or I'm sure you could come up with lots of other daring things they would be willing to put some money in to see. Ask them if they have any wild ideas too.

or on the conservative side, maybe a basket raffle?

Garage sale?

Craig's list posting even asking for donations?

make sure to remind them that they can get a tax-deductable receipt. for any money given to the charity! That loosens up their wallets a little too.
Prepare a generic letter asking for corporate sponsorships and deliver them by hand to local businesses. Let them know that if they donate $50 or more you will do the walk-a-thon wearing their logo on your T-Shirt. Buy a plain white T-Shirt and some iron-on transfers from Staples (http://www.staples.ca/ENG/Catalog/cat_sk鈥?/a> then you can transfer all of the logos of the companies that support you! You can especially try at local pet shops %26amp; animal feed stores. They get the advertising opportunity plus are giving to a great cause.
I have just started a great unique fundraiser. It is an online local business directory. It makes lots a money, with no initial outlay and is easy to manage, it also helps to link the community. Check it out at SpiderWebsites.com.au under the fundraising tab.
You can see if you can find a vet who will do a low cost rabies clinic for you.

Set up an account with igive.com

See if one of the local stores will let you set up a booth at their store. Make sure you put out donation containers.
wow for only $200 youll shave the head....we must be going through hard times...

sell cookies, car washes...i dunno there has to be many dog lovers willing to donate time or money..

good luck badly..
If you shave your head and send me a pix I will send you a check for $50.
what doing a fundraiser that involves car washes or pet grooming's/baths or a bake sale
